Explain the concept of motivation and why it is important to motivate employees
Motivation drives people to stay passionate about a job, position, or academic field and work hard to achieve a goal. It may be internal or external to the person. Workplace motivation affects employee engagement, job happiness, productivity, and company performance (Bushi, 2021).
Which of the three content motivation theories do you prefer? Why?
I prefer Herzberg’s two-factor theory among the three theories. The theory calls wages, job stability, and working conditions “hygiene factors” (Shikalepo, 2020). However, “motivators” like praise, responsibility, and personal improvement can make people happy and motivated without hygiene. I prefer this theory because it emphasizes intrinsic motivators for job satisfaction and motivation.
Which of the three process motivation theories do you prefer? Why?
Among the three theories, the Goal-Setting Theory is the one that I find most appealing since it offers a structured method for establishing precise targets, motivating me to reach those objectives, and improving my performance (Bushi, 2021).
What is your motivation theory?
Regarding my motivational framework, it incorporates aspects of the Goal-Setting Theory as well as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The cultivation of motivation and the improvement of overall performance are both facilitated by the establishment of goals that are both specific and difficult to achieve. Despite this, paying attention to individuals’ underlying wants and desires is equally important to encourage personal development and pleasure.
What primary methods, techniques, and so on do you plan to use in your career?
I plan to use the following methods to motivate and inspire my coworkers. Providing constructive feedback and coaching employees to assist them in identifying their strengths and improvement areas increases their motivation to perform better. Secondly, recognition and rewards through expressing gratitude and offering prizes for employee successes can boost job satisfaction and self-esteem. Thirdly, it is through training and development that employees can grow professionally, supporting employees’ career advancement personally by learning and improving. A healthy working environment promotes collaboration, open communication, and support, making people feel valued, empowered, and motivated to perform well.
