– Sabbath is this time to say,
man, there’s one day coming
where God is going to make everyday Sabbath.
– [Interviewer] Yeah.
– And I get to remind myself of that today, right?
– [Interviewer] Yeah.
– And to me, Jesus healing on the Sabbath.
It’s not a coincidence
that there’s a lot of healings on the Sabbath.
– [Interviewer] Of course.
– Because I think it’s actually
a little breadcrumb of Jesus saying like,
“Oh yeah, Sabbath and healing is a taste of new creation.”
Meaning new creations coming.
Let me just show you right here, right?
It’s like a hint that this is where we are going.
– Wow, that’s so good.
And I like how you’re talking
about how Jesus really subverted the religious paradigm
in that he said,
“I am the Lord of Sabbath.”
He anthropomorphized and lived out that reality of rest.
“Come to me and you will have rest for your souls.”
You’ve really had an amazing voice
in regards to our generation
learning the difference between religion and relationship.
One of my best friends, Sean,
he defined the difference this way, that religion is,
“I messed up, don’t tell dad relationship Dad.”
– [Interviewee] Yeah
– Relationship is,
“I messed up, I’d better call dad.”
– [Interviewee] Yeah, totally.
